I recall the huge sitting room to the right with the very large fireplace. I do not recall items as you mention in your article being around - like there was hardly any furniture. It was a long time ago... We did stay in rooms upstairs. It's extremely sad that this donation to the state was so mismanaged and ultimately destroyed. Shame on them! I have been looking for photos online and only find a few of when it was already in shambles. Any suggestions? I'd love to see the inside.Kathynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7724944174637240670.post-49056848621037879622013-06-23T14:54:32.979-04:002013-06-23T14:54:32.979-04:00When I was a kid, someone told me stories about ho...When I was a kid, someone told me stories about how they use go to parties in the mansion and how they used to have mummies and shrunken heads..I always thought they were making that up! I guess I was wrong. What a shame about all those awesome artifacts, especially the cannons and gunn collections. But the high point of any visit was stopping at the Lodge and seeing the collection of rustic furniture and taxidery on the ground level. And in the early 60's we spent a week in rooms on the third floor (the old servants' quarters, I'm sure). It was magical to be living for a little while in and honest-to-God MANSION! LOL We mourned the closure, later the fire and finally the destruction of that grand old building from another age. It's hard to believe and so sad that the state of New Jersey could be so incredibly careless with such a treasure.Bob Egannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7724944174637240670.post-55440484404580251432011-03-07T18:14:20.854-05:002011-03-07T18:14:20.854-05:00i was wondering about those bronze doors with rega...i was wondering about those bronze doors with regards to the recent theft from ringwood manor of march 2011. it's all just typical jersey corruption.<br />just like the looting of iraqi and egyptian national museums or the destruction of the giant buddha sculptures in afghanistan, cultural<br />terrorism.<br />"it's all good"Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
